Apple Watch Pride Edition tipped, Pride Edition bands launched for LGBTQ+ month

Apple has officially announced two new Pride Edition bands to celebrate Global LGBTQ Pride Month in June. Apple’s Pride Edition Bands would come with dynamic Pride watch faces to support the LGBTQ+ community and the equality movement. The Pride Edition Sport Loop features a color gradient with the word “Pride” woven directly into the strap. The company is also launching a new Shot on iPhone pride campaign on Instagram that captures the essence of artists and figures within the global LGBTQ+ community. Meanwhile, a new tip suggests that an Apple Watch Pride Edition may also be hitting the market soon.

Apple supports LGBTQ+ rights every year, and this year the company unveiled two Pride Edition bands. It unveiled the new Pride Edition Sport Loop and the Pride Edition Nike Sport Loop in connection with the celebration. In addition, Apple has also introduced the Pride Threads watch faces.

On the other hand, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg via a tweet that Apple will soon also launch a new Pride Edition Apple Watch. According to Gurman, marketing materials and updated Watch tables have reportedly arrived in stores as early as next week for placement.

Apple Pride Edition Sport Loop Band

The Pride Edition Sport Loop band features the original rainbow colors with those of several pride flags, including light blue, pink and white, which represent transgender and gender non-conforming individuals, and black and tan, which symbolize Black and Latinx communities. It is also said that the colors represent those who are living with or have died from HIV/AIDS. The company has also used a new technique to remove several double-layer nylon woven textile loops on the strap to reveal the word “Pride” in italics.

The Pride Edition Sport Loop band costs Rs.3,900 in India and $49 (about Rs.3,800) in the United States. The band can be ordered through Apple’s official website and will also be available for purchase in Apple Stores from May 26.

Apple Pride Edition Nike Sport Loop Band

Apple claims that the new Pride Edition Nike Sport Loop band celebrates the full spectrum of the rainbow and has a matching rainbow-colored Nike Bounce face that accompanies the band. The band comes with Nike’s Be True collection, which is part of Nike’s wider commitment to the LGBTQ+ community and focuses on recognition, advocacy, inspiration and education. The Nike Sport Loop band would also pay tribute to individuals extending sport for generations to come and inspiring others to feel the joy of being authentically themselves.

The Pride Edition Nike Sport Loop band is available for Rs.3,900 in India and $49 (about Rs.3,800) in the United States. The band can be ordered online through Apple’s official website and will soon be available for purchase through Nike’s official website.

These Pride Edition Sport Loop bands are claimed to be compatible with any Apple Watch. Other than this, these bands will also be available for the Apple Watch Series 7 and it should be out later this week, according to Gurman.

In addition, as mentioned above, Apple has also introduced the Pride Threads watch faces. Inspired by multiple pride flags, these watch faces combine colors to represent the strength and mutual support of the LGBTQ+ movement. The company has also included a new App Clip functionality in the strap packaging to provide customers with a simple and easy way to instantly access the new matching watch face.

However, the watch face is available in Apple Watch Series 4 or later with iOS 8.6 and iPhone 6s or later with iOS 15.5.

In addition, the Shot on iPhone Pride campaign launched by Apple showcases places of historical significance to the LBGTQ+ movement. The series is reportedly set to hit Apple’s Instagram handle soon and will feature works from various photographers from around the world.
